Filfora- where food is everything!!

Food love is the biggest love!! At least for me, being a foodie. I love eating varieties of scrummy food and trying new restaurants and eateries to explore the best food in town. The one I am going to write about in my blog today is a very popular restaurant at my place ‘Bhopal’ known as ‘Filfora.’ This place is extremely famous for its non-veg delicacies, especially mutton delicacies like Mutton Roganjosh, Bhuna Mutton, Khada Masala Mutton etc.  You get the best and most fresh rumali rotis here and it’s an unforgettable experience savoring finger-licking curries with these rotis.

But apart from all these what really makes this place outstanding and my favorite, is some exceptionally delicious desserts it offers like ‘Shahi Tukda and Phirni.’ I bet you won’t get this amazing shahi tukdas and phirni anywhere else in Bhopal. It’s the best in town. Truly authentic preparation and taste which will drag you here very often and turn you into phirni and shahi tukda lovers.

Phirni is basically a sweet Indian dish of thickened milk and ground rice. It is flavored with cardamom, raisins, saffron, cashews, pistachios or almonds. It is typically served during a meal or as a dessert. Its a very simple dessert and tastes perfect, especially here at Filfora. Phirni here is so fresh and delightful, with impeccable texture, optimum thickess and just the right amount of sugar and dry fruits. I remember when I visited this place for the first time, I was so full after having dinner that I was totally reluctant to have any dessert. But my friends insisted that I should try some and believe me I couldn’t stop myself from scoffing the whole bowl. Its was so creamy and on top of it they serve it in small earthenware bowl or kulhar which makes it even more flavourful and yummy. The hint of cardamom and saffron was so ideal that I could relish the actual taste of phirni and its specific ingredients like rice and milk.


My next and most preferred here is Shahi Tukda. Having its roots in the Mughlai cuisine, it is a rich and creamy royal dessert, made up of bread, condensed milk, and dry fruits. It is particularly prepared during the festive month of Ramzan and on Eid. But when you want to satiate your taste buds even without festival being around, come to this place and you will get addicted. I have had many shahi tukdas in past but mostly they turn soggy since they are dipped in condensed milk, which actually doesn’t taste so good. But over here, tukdas are a perfect blend of being creamy and crispy and just melts in your mouth, leaving you overwhelmed. Crunchy, soft, cold, nutty and full of flavor, this dessert will make you go mad.

So if you are a dessert lover and want to have the best of Indian desserts when in Bhopal, don’t forget to visit this place and experience these divine delights. And not to mention how satisfying the whole meal becomes when you have your favourite biryanis and curries on the table followed by such terrific desserts.
