Routine Robots??

Beep, Beep, Beep!!! I quickly snoozed my alarm and gave myself another 5 minutes to enjoy the coziness of bed. This is the time I get the best sleep and feel like slumbering forever. All I could think right now is about the night, so that I can sleep again. Sounds funny, but true. And yes!! Beep beep again, no further snooze, out of bed this time, put on my jacket, slippers and straight out of room. I prefer not looking back and feel envious of my hubby tucked in cozily under the quilt. His alarm will go in another 15 minutes and that kind of makes him slightly more lucky than me.

Well, I hurriedly brush my teeth, open up doors and windows for some morning freshness and head to the kitchen without any minute wasting. I quickly pack lunch for him and fix some breakfast and coffee for both of us. Meanwhile he is downstairs and ready to leave. Its just 7.30 in the morning and we are already on our toes. Huh!! Life is harsh. I go up to the door, kiss him goodbye and take a moment to analyze the weather, which is really unpredictable here. Coming back, I square up the kitchen and now it’s time to go running for me. I put on my shoes, grab my cellphone, earphone, keys and soon I’m out in the park, breathing in fresh air and jogging onto tunes of life.

By the time my workout ends, its almost 9.15 AM, but the lovely weather allows me to sit back for some time, relax my muscles, calm down my breath and let myself loose. I play a gentle track on my playlist and sit there feeling cold wind on my face. This is the best part of my everyday mornings, I should say. From the moment I wake up till now, so much happens. At times I am astonished at my abilities and feel like a superwoman. I am amazed at how much of balance my mind and me has attained. Both of us know what to do, when to do and how to do, so that everything turns up just fine and in time as we want them to be.

Infact, I am not the only one blessed with this superpower. As I sit there, I see around so many people passing by, each performing the way their morning agenda wants them to. Men and women going for work, dropping their kids to school, taking out their pets for a walk, youngsters hurrying up for their schools and colleges, people opening cafes and restaurants, gardener watering plants, council van collecting garbage and cleaning places, drivers waiting at bus stops for the clock to strike exact time for them to move, and the list is endless.

Everyone has a task ahead and they can’t be doing anything different from that, at that particular time. All of us have programmed ourselves in a certain way, to best manage our frenetic morning and wild day ahead. I don’t know what exactly is this, ‘Routine or have we become Robots??’ So many things govern us at a time that we can’t even afford taking a moment to sip our coffee in peace. Calculations go inside our heads every second. But yes!! Coffee is imperative, so we play smart, pour them in our travel mugs and make sure its empty while on our way to office.

And that’s what is the key!! Smartness is the key to manage everything around, so that the whole cascade of events throughout the day falls perfect. So that we do well in our work, in our studies, in our life. So that we stay ahead, stay updated and don’t fall out of competition. So that we survive!! And this, my friends, is the need of the hour. You can’t afford losing yourself to leisure, hobbies, love and peace. You need to be there for the world every moment, else the world will forget you.

But amidst all this running and routine, as we fondly say, we have turned ourselves into nothing but robots, where every instant counts. Where we have lost touch with our inner peace and melodies of life. We are losing those countless magical, memorable and brilliant moments, which don’t happen twice.

Beep, Beep, Beep!! My chains of thoughts are shattered by my alarm again. Its 9.30, which means I should be moving now. I started walking briskly towards my home, and somewhere silently I was appreciating the greatest invention of all time, ‘The Alarm Watch.’ An unflawed example of a machine overriding souls.

They help you do so much in time; they help you become excellent ‘Robots.’ Or as we usually say, setting up ‘Routine’ and glorifying our lives.
